What is Maya Abdominal Massage and how could it help me?
Maya
Abdominal Massage is an ancient modality of healing practiced by
traditional Maya healers and midwives for thousands of years. Thanks
to Dr. Rosita Arvigo of Belize (www.arvigomassage.com),
the work is becoming more widespread across the globe through her
certification-training program. The primary aim of the Arvigo Techniques
of Maya Abdominal Massage is to increase energy and circulation
of blood, lymph fluid and nerve impulse to the abdominal and pelvic
organs, as well as to realign organs for optimal function, with
particular focus on the proper alignment of the uterus for women.
This is achieved through gentle, external massage of the abdomen,
pelvis and lower back along with simple stretching techniques.
For women
in particular, the displaced uterus is a common cause of a number
of reproductive and digestive health symptoms. When reproductive
organs shift, the normal flow of blood, lymph and hormones are disrupted,
as are nerve connections to the rest of the body. By shifting the
uterus back into its proper place, the body’s innate ability
to heal itself is restored. Toxins are flushed, tissues are toned
and hormones are rebalanced. This is essential for healthy menstrual
cycles, conception, pregnancy, labor, and delivery and menopause.
The massage also works to diminish adhesions and abnormal growths
in the pelvic and abdominal area. This includes ovarian cysts, fibroids,
endometriosis, and scar tissue from previous pelvic procedures and
surgeries. Additionally, the massage is an effective tool for helping
ease digestive and urinary tract disorders.
